THE CIVIC FORUM LECTURES
encourage people to think for thought's sake. Not only can thinking become a pleasure, it is the first step toward independence both ideological and economic. Thinking in the abstract frees one from daily cares; it encourages speculation and renewal. New ideas create new opportunities. New opportunities facilitate growth.
The Civic Forum Lectures were begun in Bradford circa 1933.
